applique panel

This is a small part of a large whole..One pannel of a large wall hanging I've done. I love the idea of using the sewing machine as a drawing instrument, and plan on doing a lot more of that!

Here I've machine and hand sewn pannels onto a large, long banner-style hanging with much embelishment going on..

colors of summer

This summer is racing by like a rushing river. I can hardly believe how quickly the days are flying by. During the summer, I rise early to work in the studio. Before the phone starts ringing, before the hot, humid air drifts in. Quiet and calm.

Water colors of the pool and river and sea...

A simple 1-patch, with fabrics so beautiful not much is necessary..

To dive into when I can't get to the water, like I want to.

The colors of summer, greens, violets, turquoise..

Keep cool!

stitching

I've managed to squeeze in a little stitching and sorting time..
This is a completed quilt top from Dinah Jefferies' patterns:

All of this is hand-turned applique, and it's taken me months and months to do, I always feel like I should hand quilt these, but I may be able to over come that idea!

I loved doing those ruched flowers.. pure joy!

I do still keep up the traditional quilt making, but have also worked on art quilting as well, I'm a fence walker to the end.
Here's a landscape quilt in progress:

I'm machine appliqueing the top, then I'll go back and layer hand stitching for the smaller details..

Amazing what you find as you clean and sort your stash. All of these fabrics were hand-dyed and/or discharged by me, I loved doing the discharge fabric especially. I love the result, it's the black/star patterned stuff here..

still working!

Even though I have no studio right now, for a good reason!! I'm still stitching! Working on my stitched landscape series:

Cold and barren ouside!
Warm and stitchy inside!

I'm am also endeavoring to incorporate text into the pieces, both with machine and paper, prose and poetry...

All right! What are you working on?

fassett

I can think of no one who is more of a colorist than Kaffe Fassett. He left the US to go to England, and has become an icon. Needlepoint, knitting, mosaic, quilting, painting, he is a real role model for me. I had the pleasure of attending a lecture given by him. He garners crowds of adorers like a rock star.
