I'm a sucker for this type of fabric. Soft, feminine and floral. I was (am) a huge Laura Ashley fan from way back. I remember those shops, so girly! I wanted to wear a peticoat like Laura and Mary Ingalls. I know that that style of decor is not popular now. But I am always drawn to that country cottage stuff. I love peeling paint, rust and tattered, frayed fabrics and objects.
This is a wall hanging quilt, about 45x45", I took these blocks on various trips and hand appliqued and quilted them while traveling. I look at this quilt and remember what we were doing and where we were going. That's a huge secondary benefit to hand making something, a reminder of where we were and what we were doing..

Just gorgeous! Love the colors and the way the design flows.
Ah yes, Laura Ashley, those were the days, but have you seen the works of Magnolia Pearl...oh my. A bit too much for most people's taste, but I love her Bohemian style, unafraid to go to the edge. Her book is fabulous and her ideas and spin on life in general is fun and inspirational if you love decorating with vintage fabrics and artifacts. Her clothes I love, but living in conservative Iowa, they have no purpose, but a dear friend just gifted me with one of her purses...I 'bout died when I opened it, now this I can live with!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I wish I had the patience to quilt, I love your choice of fabrics.
