all done, for now

Wrapped up a submission for the ArtHouse co-op's "The Color Project' with some mini quilts, all about 9x11" and mixed media.

All the above base on literary characters. Mixed media, fabric, paint, pages from the books, hand and machine stitching. The theme was to make the pieces primarily, red, blue, green or yellow. Above is the red, blue and yellow pieces..Poor Ophelia there in the blue, already becoming her ghost..

And I was so please with the silk hand dye results, I've used some of that in the 'green' piece, hand and machine made, with had stitching and hand spun wool yarn.

spring silk

oh my, have I loved doing this so..

I want to wear them..in fact maybe I will! all hand dyed 100% silk ties.  I've been crazy with the silk lately, and have a few new art quilts to post here as well. I've also done a great deal of hand dyed silk yardage.. anyone think they need some? Check the Etsy store out for the goods..
Lord, it's beautiful weather. Love the Virginia spring time..

meadow views

Even though it doesn't look like the picture on the bottom, the art quilt was distilled from that view, just in a different season!

With hand dyed fabric (I'm really loving this process, and have lots of hand dyed silk stuff to show you)!

Not a whole lot of embellishment , an excercise in restraint.

the terracotta warriors are in DC

Since a trip to Xi'an is not in the forcast, my son and I took advantage of an exhibit in Washington DC's National Geographic Museum happening through March 31st.

It was awesome! Even for a 15 year old! This is a 'reading' exhibit, and it helps to do a little homework before you go..

My son and I!

March FCCA show

A great start to the show at Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts..
My fiber work with the wonderful Audrey Bruno's photography. We did not know each other, nor pick each other to show together, amazingly enough the show went together like peas and carrots.

We both had good sales, and there are still pieces available, so if you are interested, let me know!! Thanks to everyone who came out to support the F'burg local art scene. It was a very lovely night. The show hangs all of March.
