Sargent

If I could paint like anyone I chose, (besides VanGogh) I'd pick John Singer Sargent. His use of paint and light and his deft hand is amazing to me. It's nice to read about a painter who was successful during his lifetime, and he was. He painted all sorts of society figures, including Presidents. I also like that late 19th, early 20th century period anyway. He painted pictures that were wonderful, vibrant and still could be appreciated by non-society folk.

I love Sargent too ... studying his painting technique is on my to-do list.

I'm so into Sargent's society-lady portraits! They're beautiful and a little moody at the same time...
