trees and birds

The latest in the tree stitchery going on..still layering, sewing, adding..

Hand and machine stitched, embellished...

and they left us yesterday, all intact, just up and flew away! the nerve.

where's my house fairy?

I've missed my house fairy, where can it be?
I've had my nose in this:

and sorting out this:

look what appeared, but no fairy to fold..

and these! wow, now if I can find that fairy to put this away! must be hidden in the laundry!

corners of my home

The sun came out, yesterday and dried up the mushy yard..streaming through the windows.

I never really realized how many Japanese things I have around..

We spent 3 years in Japan, and I loved it. But I was also happy to come home, too. I did love their eye for the simple, and the nature of things. I developed a love for indigo cloth, anything blue and white, and the gorgeous pottery. I did a little bit of buying when we were there..

More sun!

Hmm more blue and white!

earth

I've started a new multi-media series on the four elements, earth, air, fire, water (no not the music group!) Here's the fiber start wip, earth:

About 16" square, and still a lot to go, this is fabric, beads, hand and machine sewing, couching going on.

Inspired by aerial maps, topography and especially volcanic flow.. this will evolve (ha!) into an art quilt, eventually!

slow, steady work, earth is..

spring?

Good lord, it rained cats and dogs last night..I guess that gardening date will have to be postponed for a while..meanwhile, I've been busy. Some gifts for some special ladies:

The color of these iris' takes my breath away. The bloom time is so short, it seems, but I even love the faded flowers.

My bible study group is winding up for the summer. A little thank you for them..

So easy and fun to make, fabric strips sewn raw edge together, then sewn onto pre-cut cardboard. Torn paper pages, sewn in, embellish, voila!

Hopefully into the studio today..the to-do list is way long, though..
